Keep Out

If you're wondering what my hand is doing in the first picture, I honestly cannot tell you.
However, peculiar hand gestures aside, this is probably one of my favorite posted outfits thus far, because it's of my ideal school outfit-
Maxi skirt, check. Green Urban Outfitters jacket layered on top of three other layers, check. Converse, check. Just the right amount of jewelry, check. Low-cut shirt that only I can get away with because I am less endowed than most, check!

Jacket: Urban Outfitters (Similar here and here), black cardigan: H&M, hoodie: American Apparel (here),
white tank: Goodwill (or try this), wrap skirt: Free People (some friendly alternatives here and here),
cuff: Free People (this one is muy nice), shoes: Converse (can't find them online anymore, but the look can easily be accomplished with a pair of high tops and gold spray paint)

My "Keep Out" sign taped to the bathroom door proved to not be very effective...

Floral + Knit Take Two

I've posted an outfit with these shorts before (see here), and they're starting to make the common rounds in my wardrobe. When I first bought them I was iffy on wether I would actually get good usage out of them, but they have proved worthy. Getting them at Forever 21, I think I can say I got more bang for my buck.

(sweater: mom's from Loft; tank: Target; booties: Bakers)

P.S. HI! Hopefully our little schoolwork-overload hiatus is over for a while...

Open Eyes

Demo off The XX's new album

Saying that we've been backed up with schoolwork lately would be the understatement of this blogs entirety.
I won't bore you with the horrific details, but I promise there WILL be an actual fashion-related post up in the next day or two.
-Rebecca

p.s. p.s. p.s.
I'm really excited for The XX's new album.
Like, butterfly's in my stomach, too-much-coffee-jitter, I just want to sit in their studio with water bottles and moist towelettes to help the process move along, excited. Please tell me I'm not alone here.

Wang Bang

One of my favorite collections of this Fashion Week was Alexander Wang's F/W line. The fabrics he used were so unique, and are somewhat of an optical illusion, "what looks like a raincoat is really laminated tweed." Crossing my fingers for a Target or H&M collaboration in the near future...

Teaser Spud-Scud

Wanna see the rest of the outfit?

Not many things rhyme with dud... and are fun to say.
Let's make this a thing?

Save a Child's Heart

Last night Ruthie and I had the pleasure of helping out at an event for the foundation Save a Child's Heart.
Save a Child's Heart is a charitable foundation that helps children that live in developing countries and have heart problems receive the medical attention they need, regardless of their nationality, religion, color, gender or financial situation.
If you are interested in finding out more about what they do, I highly suggest that you check out their website saveachildsheart.org

This is us testing out the photo booth. I'm happy to say it was fully functional.

Grandpa Sweater Galore

Welcome to Grandpa Sweater City. As I've posted before, I live in these sweaters during the winter because they are just so warm and comfy. I have quite the selection of colors and patterns from my Dad's vintage sweaters from who knows when to a more fitting Zara version. I suggest you all invest in one...I assure you'll have it as a vintage piece too another decade from now.

Revival

The army green jacket has been revived from the depths of my closet. I always seem to lose jackets right when it gets coldest, and this one was no exception. Funny enough, I found this one at the bottom of my closet while looking for a heavier jacket, which of course I still can't find. I kind of forgot how this jacket can make any outfit, and I especially love it paired with this floaty floral blouse.

Oh Lana

What a babe...
She's like Brigitte Bardot if she were a Bond girl who also happened to be able to sing.

Did anyone see the piece about her in the most recent V Magazine? It sounds like she's taking her rapidly increasing fame like a pro.

Happy weekend!

ALLSAINTS

I've been obsessed with AllSaints for a while now and every time I walk into the store I have to stare longingly at the clothes and sadly walk out. But when I was down in Miami I passed by the AllSaints on Lincoln Rd. and I noticed that the window said SALE so I went in and spotted this ombre/floral skull/mullet dress on sale for only $25 (!!!). I couldn't resist passing up a deal that good from one of my favorite stores and ever since then I've been dying to wear this outfit but I have no clue where! Any ideas?

Prep

I forgot I liked this staircase so much!

(Briefcase: flea market, bracelets: friendship bracelet, hair elastic,
and my gold necklace woven around itself and wrapped around twice.)

Wearing an outfit that's just outside of my comfort zone with its borderline prep-overload. Then again, when there's this much black, how can I be that uncomfortable?

Wearing a hella-freakin tight skirt from Hardtail, Gap button down, my trusty converse, and a new sweater from H&M that I got for $5 (!!!). I'm liking how this sweater is loose enough to do some fun layering with but fitted enough to be worn alone, and I'm LOVING its waxy finish.

Vanessa.

With all the fuss about colleges and SATs going on around me, I reminisced on the summer classes I took at FIT. For my styling class, we had to choose one celebrity to be our inspiration and create fashion and photo-shoot boards styling the celebrity we chose. Choosing a celebrity was so easy for me, of course I would style Vanessa Hudgens. She's always been one of my style icons because she mixes boho and girly so effortlessly and she's not afraid to try something new. So, I finished my 3 style boards, FIT ended, and the summer went on. Then at the very end of the summer, my friends Rachel, Sarah, and I ventured out into the craziness and excitement of FNO. And who was the first person we saw when we got to the meatpacking district block party? Vanessa. Hudgens. After working with Vanessa as my style inspiration, meeting her was the sweet ending to the greatest summer.

DUD

dud, noun: a thing that fails to work properly, an ineffectual (lacking
the abilities to cope with a role or situation) person; clothing.

Aka me in school.

I borrowed my friends awesomely furry goat vest today to add that little *something* that my outfit of a meager band t-shirt, yellow skirt from Forever 21 and combat boots needed. I saw Vampire Weekend two years ago at Radio City with three of my friends and it was one of the funnest concert experiences I've had, and not just because there were two men sitting in front of us trying to act slick for their hired dates.
Speaking of slick, Leetal and I are planning something small and hopefully chortle inducing for when we reach 50 followers! We're suuupa psyched, so get excited.

Have a good Tuesday tomorrow everyone!

Big Blue

In honor of the Giants winning the Superbowl, I've decided to feature some of my favorite "blue" looks. The first two are from Kenzo's Spring/Summer 2012 collection. Kenzo has easily become one of my favorite labels, from the mix and match of silhouettes to the vibrant color combinations. And you all know how much I love color (after all, I am the color to Rebecca's neutral). The third picture is from street style photographer, Lee Oliveira's blog. Im a sucker for big, you-shouldn't-go-there sweaters and this one is no exception- I'd love to have it hanging in my closet. The last three pictures I found on Google, and I just love how a pop of blue can make an outfit, whether in small doses on accessories or all over on a monochromatic look.
