Double Take

The rule is, mixing prints is okay as long as you wear two prints in the same color family. I completely broke that rule with this Material Girl shirt. With its rocker feel, Material Girl clothing exudes rule-breaker, just like its designer. This shirt is not only a mullet shirt, but has two very different prints on either side with very different color families. But I think it works, no? Such a versatile shirt, you can decide what length and what print you want in the front and which you want in the back. And if you're feeling daring, you can always add a printed bottom to the mix...

Keep Out

If you're wondering what my hand is doing in the first picture, I honestly cannot tell you.
However, peculiar hand gestures aside, this is probably one of my favorite posted outfits thus far, because it's of my ideal school outfit-
Maxi skirt, check. Green Urban Outfitters jacket layered on top of three other layers, check. Converse, check. Just the right amount of jewelry, check. Low-cut shirt that only I can get away with because I am less endowed than most, check!

Jacket: Urban Outfitters (Similar here and here), black cardigan: H&M, hoodie: American Apparel (here),
white tank: Goodwill (or try this), wrap skirt: Free People (some friendly alternatives here and here),
cuff: Free People (this one is muy nice), shoes: Converse (can't find them online anymore, but the look can easily be accomplished with a pair of high tops and gold spray paint)

My "Keep Out" sign taped to the bathroom door proved to not be very effective...

Jewel Spud

Spud scratch the scud is officially a thing!

Try to ignore the conspicuous dark area betwixt my legs as I walk you through my extra 2.5 lbs. of the day:

Necklaces from the top: Housing Works, gift
Bracelets from the top: (right) Save A Child's Heart, thrift, chain with magnets, leather strip
(left) friendship bracelet, mom's, flea market

Floral + Knit Take Two

I've posted an outfit with these shorts before (see here), and they're starting to make the common rounds in my wardrobe. When I first bought them I was iffy on wether I would actually get good usage out of them, but they have proved worthy. Getting them at Forever 21, I think I can say I got more bang for my buck.

(sweater: mom's from Loft; tank: Target; booties: Bakers)

P.S. HI! Hopefully our little schoolwork-overload hiatus is over for a while...

Open Eyes

Demo off The XX's new album

Saying that we've been backed up with schoolwork lately would be the understatement of this blogs entirety.
I won't bore you with the horrific details, but I promise there WILL be an actual fashion-related post up in the next day or two.
-Rebecca

p.s. p.s. p.s.
I'm really excited for The XX's new album.
Like, butterfly's in my stomach, too-much-coffee-jitter, I just want to sit in their studio with water bottles and moist towelettes to help the process move along, excited. Please tell me I'm not alone here.

Wang Bang

One of my favorite collections of this Fashion Week was Alexander Wang's F/W line. The fabrics he used were so unique, and are somewhat of an optical illusion, "what looks like a raincoat is really laminated tweed." Crossing my fingers for a Target or H&M collaboration in the near future...

Teaser Spud-Scud

Wanna see the rest of the outfit?

Not many things rhyme with dud... and are fun to say.
Let's make this a thing?
