Pictures with Captions

On Thanksgiving Day (before my and Leetals encounter with aliens) my friend Sarah and I went out for a few hours to work up our appetites before our feast. We took a lot of pictures...

...and I took the liberty of captioning them.

CopyCat

(plaid button down: Target; sweater: Zara; denim jacket: Abercrombie; skirt: Forever 21; shoes: Keds)

I bought this sweater from Zara in the summer, and I just couldn't figure out how to wear it. That is, until I saw Aimee Song's post wearing the same sweater with plaid pants (songofstyle). But since I don't own red plaid pants, I went with the button down instead. These pictures were taken in the school's "secret" dance room, although it's not so secret since everyone goes up there to make their mark on the school. I thought the graffiti on the wall would compliment the different prints of my outfit nicely.

Put a Brooch on It!

Raise the roof?

Considering I wear this chaqueta just about everyday, it seemed about time to personalize it...

Early Morning

I finally got to wear my Wangs out!

Just a disclaimer about them, yes- they are very high, and yes- they are challenging to walk in, and YES- I did get strange looks from a couple walking with their baby carriage who were probably thinking about what bad parental supervision I have to be allowed to own stilts.

But that's O.K., if you like something them you should wear it.
Don't let your decisions be swayed by others opinions of you and you'll find that there is one less stress in your life.

(Dress (worn as a shirt): H&M, pants: Zara, heels: Alexander Wang)

It wasn't actually that early when these pictures were taken, but being awake before midday on a weekend (these pictures were taken on my birthday) when you haven't slept properly in days  is a pretty big deal.

(Hoodie: American Apparel, cardigan: little sisters, jacket: Urban Outfitters)

Tired face= case and point.

Fa La La La La La

My favorite place to be during the holidays is New York City. All the lights are up, all the store windows are incredible and everyone is just so jolly. I went to Rockafeller Center yesterday to see the tree and I finally saw some Menorahs in store windows! I only had time to go see the Saks windows and I took pictures of my favorite dresses. I would die to have any of these dresses for Channukah. Hint hint.

Nina Ricci

Didn't catch the designer's name!

Gorgeous beading on the Monique Lhuillier

Olivier Theyskens

Couldn't catch this designer's name either; people are so pushy by the store windows!

Imagine getting married in this Monique Lhuillier dress

This Stella McCartney is theee perfect disco/ winter wonderland/ cocktail party dress

This gown is by none other than Alexander McQueen. Its layer after layer of fabric and feathers in this gorgeous wine color is TO DIE FOR. I think I could spend my life saving on this dress and be forever happy

AND LOOK AT THESE HEELS. Completing the look, these heels induced me into a fashion coma.

age of consent

Is that too inappropriate?
I feel like that may be too inappropriate...

Anyhoo, My birthday was this weekend, which is why there were no posts- so sorry.

On Saturday I stumbled upon one of the most adorable cupcake shops I've ever been in, The Cupcake Cafe
and they were nice enough to give me a free cupcake for my birthday!

Walnut cupcake with maple syrup frosting= so freaking delicious my face exploded with ecstasy (the emotion).

p.s. I need a cure for my claw-hands- seriously, couldn't they just be SLIGHTLY more photogenic?

Style Icon: Emmanuelle Alt

 I love her. Seriously.

She has a career any fashion-lover would wish for, her style appears perfected to a T, and if you've read any interviews with her you would feel that she was an all-around chill person with the type of personality you'd want to be around.

Her outfits are simple, but not common.
To me, Emmanuelle's style does not seem at all fussy- she scores the perfect balance in what she wears so that she achieves a  low maintenance look that only appears high maintenance. Also notable, you can see she doesn't just wear an iten once and throw it away- something everyone can admire in a fashionista.

“Emmanuelle has an unaffected way to be feminine, she doesn’t wear makeup, wears little jewelry, hasn’t had surgery. She reflects how Frenchwomen are feeling—simplicity is the state we all want to be in. We are tired of useless sophistication.” -Bruni-Sarkozy.

SHE IS JUST SO FREAKING COOL.

Whenever I am feeling incapable of being creative, I simplify. The way I present myself, what I eat, what I am involved with- anything having to do with my lifestyle always seems to improve after a little shedding of the excess and breaking down to the bare necessities.
Emmanuelle is the perfect style icon to turn to If I've forgotten how to take off my extra 7 layers, and make the 2-3 that I'm wearing work.
